The place in Bodhgaya where Buddha got enlightened. The temple has been built much later, but the tree is almost the same. “Almost” because the original one has died, but before that a branch of it was planted in Sri Lanka, and then a branch from that one was returned to Bodhgaya, and this tree has grown from it. So, genetically it is the same tree. Many pilgrims come here in winter, including Dalai Lama, but the place is empty otherwise. Non-Buddhists can not enter the temple, but they can reach through the fence and pick a few fallen leaves up.
